CTE/Makerspace Building
St. George Municipal School Unit – St. George, Maine
Project Completion 2025
5,500 square feet
St. George MSU envisioned a new facility to expand opportunities for hands-on, minds-on learning for its students and community. The result is a two-story, 5,500-square-foot building organized into two distinct zones across the upper and lower levels.
The lower level houses a makerspace with 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers, robotics, and sewing machines, giving students from Pre-K through 8 access to modern tools for design and innovation. The upper level features a Career and Technical Education shop space designed for woodworking and welding, with flexibility for future programs.
Beyond student use, the building also supports the wider community by offering high-speed internet access for workforce training and telehealth. Recognized nationally as a model for rural innovation, the CTE/Makerspace Building highlights St. George’s commitment to preparing students with practical skills while strengthening connections to the community.
Bowman Constructors is the General Contractor and Mike Felton was the St. George MSU Superintendent.
